Emergency services were called to a blaze last night affecting four residential properties on the Black Isle.

The incident happened in Deans Road, Fortrose, where two homes were extensively damaged.

A man was treated at the scene by paramedics but no one required hospital treatment.

The alarm was raised just before 6pm when a shed fire was reported but it spread to neighbouring homes.

Six fire appliances from Fortrose, Inverness, Dingwall, Invergordon, Nairn and Beauly went to the scene.

Firefighters used two main jets and one hose reel jet plus a thermal imaging camera.

The fire was reported to be out at 11.48pm.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Officers attended to an incident involving four residential properties being affected by fire at Deans Road in Fortrose about 6pm on Sunday July 4.

"Extensive damage was caused to two of the properties.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and all occupants are safe and well."
