Ross-shire secondary’s new acting head ‘privileged to serve and support pupils’

THE new acting head teacher drafted in to take the helm at a Ross-shire secondary school says he feels privileged to take on the role.

Wim Chamlet was last week announced as the new acting head at Fortrose Academy on the Black Isle.

Mr Chamlet was formerly the head teacher at Gairloch High School in Wester Ross.

Back in September last year he confirmed he was taking a year’s secondment from the post with the local authority, Highland Council, and indicated he would be returning in August 2024.

Wim Chamlet made the statement in a slideshow titled “HT Update March 2024”, shared publicly across Fortrose Academy social media pages.

Mr Chamlet said: “I feel privileged to serve and support pupils at Fortrose Academy community as acting head teacher. I am particularly impressed by the variety of quality learning experiences offered by our teaching staff and other learning partners.

“It has been a true pleasure to prepare this update with many achievements of pupils with the support of staff, and I look forward to many more in the future.

“Have a relaxing Easter break and wish all senior pupils well with their upcoming exams starting end of April.

“Thank you for your continued support.”

Highland Council confirmed last week that both the head teacher and deputy head teacher at Fortrose Academy are on what it calls “approved leave.”
