Gairloch High School head teacher set to take a year's secondment from Wester Ross secondary
The head teacher of a Wester Ross secondary school is set to take a year’s secondment.
Gairloch High School’s head Wim Chamlet has told the parent council that he will take on a secondment for the remainder of the session, and will return in 2024.
He said: “I wanted to inform you that I will be taking on a secondment opportunity with the local authority from Monday, October 23 for the remainder of this session.
“It’s been a privilege to lead Gairloch High School for the past four years and I am very proud of everything we have achieved together.
“Meanwhile, Stuart Caddell has agreed to take on the role of headteacher on an acting basis starting on Monday, October 23.
“I only feel proud to have served such a strong knit community with great young people.
“Please accept my thanks for all the support given to me, I look forward to my return in August 2024.”
The nature of the secondment opportunity with Highland Council is not yet known.

Gairloch High School provides six-year comprehensive secondary education to pupils living within the area bounded by Second Coast in the north, Kinlochewe to the south and Shieldaig to the south west.
Its associated primary schools are Bualnaluib, Gairloch, Kinlochewe, Poolewe and Shieldaig.
Its roll, according to statistics on Highland Council's website, is 107.
