The fire was brought under control with the crews able to leave the scene at 4.32 pm.

The blaze caused considerable traffic disruption in the Lamington Street area which is an extension of the town's High Street.

An SFRS spokeswoman said: “We were initially called to attend to a fire in a derelict building at 12:51 hours. It appears that there was a reignition of the fire and our crews dealt with that from 14:46 hours.

“A stop message for the incident was received at 16:32 hours.”
