Ullapool Book Festival, a much-loved literature event that attracted enthusiasts from all over Scotland, has announced a 'sequel' despite last year's 'final' instalment.

When it was announced that summer 2023 would see the final Ullapool Book Festival, there was a shocked reaction sparking a fond farewell at the last instalment of the sell-out literature packed weekend – or so we thought.

In a new announcement, the committee has revealed that UBF – The Sequel, is promised to return in summer 2024.

The UBF teased: "The final Ullapool Book Festival was held in May 2023. But the promise then was that there would be occasional one-off author events.

"But the committee has decided to go one better.

"There will be two separate day events: each day will have four author sessions – two in the morning and two in the afternoon with a mix of fiction, non-fiction and poetry.

Dates for UBF – The Sequel are Saturday June 22, and Saturday September 7. Both days will run from 10.30am until around 5pm. These times are said to have been chosen specifically with day-trippers from Lewis and Harris in mind, as they fit in with the CalMac's summer ferry timetable.

For information on who will be appearing, keep a close eye on www.ullapoolbookfestival.co.uk where the committee has guaranteed the speakers will be the "quality people have come to expect from UBF".
