The Evanton community tested out a trishaw as a part of the Cycling Without Age scheme.

The event was held by Evanton Community Trust in the Victoria Diamond Jubilee Hall. Evanton was loaned the trishaw by the Cycling Without Age scheme to see how the community would benefit from it.

The day had a good turnout of residents who all had lots of enthusiasm to learn more about the trishaw.

Gabrielle Buist, the community development officer for Evanton Community Council, said: “We all had a shot and it was certainly a very pleasant experience to be cycled around the back streets of the village, with lots of people waving at us. Some of us were even fortunate enough to venture into the woods to enjoy the autumn displays of colour on the trees, from the luxury and warmth of the trishaw.

“Blandine, who is from Evanton is a qualified trishaw pilot for the chapter in Dingwall and has been instrumental in organising this event.”

Blandine Courtois-Lynch said: “A great wee community event on Friday, getting to know all about the work that Cycling Without Age Scotland SCIO do and trying one of their trishaws out. It seems like there is quite a bit of interest in the village which is exciting!

“If you missed the event last Friday but would still like to be involved with the trishaw, then please do get in touch with me."

The Cycling Without Age scheme aims to enhance and enrich the lives of elderly folk, and disabled people. The scheme gives them access to the beautiful outdoors through the pioneering trishaw rides, which are so often inaccessible to many people simply due to their age or limited mobility.

The Evanton Community Trust was first set up in 2005 to undertake local projects to develop new and improve or preserve existing community assets for the benefit of the Evanton community and surrounding area.
