A successful cycling initiative which helps to get the elderly and disabled into the outdoors may be on its way to Evanton.

Cycling Without Age works to try to give people a chance to enjoy the outdoors through the use of trishaws – with volunteers providing the pedal power while the elderly and disabled soak up the sights and the benefits of the fresh air.

And Evanton Community Trust is organising a 'come and try' session in a bid to see how the village could benefit from such an initiative.

Successful trishaw projects already exist in the likes of Inverness and Dingwall.

A spokesperson for the community trust said: "Cycling Without Age aim is to enhance and enrich lives by giving elderly and disabled people access to the beautiful outdoors through our pioneering trishaw rides, access which is denied to so many people simply because of age or limited mobility.

"Evanton is being loaned a trishaw to see how our community can benefit. We invite those who want to try it out and those who can offer the leg power needed."

The event is being held at the Victoria Diamond Jubilee Hall on Friday, October 27.

It begins at 10.30am with a 'how it works' and try out session, before training for pilots and outriders at 11.30am and a simple lunch at 12.30pm.

It will culminate with a trial in the woods, with people meeting at the Cabin at 1.30pm.
