AN Easter Ross father and son aim to hit the right note with lifesavers on their doorstep with a quirky lockdown gig tonight.

Davy and Sam Cowan have arranged the Invergordon RNLI raft race dance for Saturday night - despite the fact that there will be no raft race.

The popular annual Invergordon RNLI raft race and open day event is normally one of the key fundraising events for the charity, which depends on public donations to provide its 24/7 round-the-year service.

It has joined a long list of local events, ranging from the Black Isle Show to trhe Belladrum festival, falling foul of coronavirus concerns.

Billed as live from the conservatory, the home-spun gig will be the latest in a series for Davy and Sam whose request shows from their living room have proved a hit with a growing audience during the coronavirus lockdown.

Listeners have shared pictures of themselves tuning in online.

Word on the street is that there will be a nautical theme to the set list with some folk already submitting requests ranging from Fisherman's Blues to Sailing.

Their performance starts at 9pm and can be found on Davy's Facebook page.
