AN Easter Ross community's raft race and RNLI open day is the latest event to fall victim to the Covid-19 public health crisis.

The Invergordon RNLI open day and raft race scheduled for August 22 has been cancelled due to ongoing concerns about the coronavirus.

Invergordon RNLI said it was "with a great deal of regret but perhaps not a lot of surprise in these unprecedented times" that the announcement was made.

The local branch of the RNLI said: "The annual event always brings fun, enjoyment and not to mention some healthy competition from the raft decoration and costumes paddling round the course. The wellbeing of our community, businesses, visitors and everyone involved with Invergordon RNLI is of utmost importance and cannot be placed at risk."

It says it is planning some virtual events in the coming days and pays tribute to the public for ongoing support.
