A FRESH appeal has been launched for on-call firefighters in a Wester Ross community.

Ullapool Community Fire Station is on the lookout for people to fill the role.

It said: "If you live or work in Ullapool, are aged over 18, physically fit with good health, have a good standard of vision and would like to support you local community when why not get in contact and see if you could be an on-call firefighter."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service depends on people across the Highlands to help it respond across a massive area.

It says the role provides great opportunities for developing new skills and supporting your local community at times of need.

A recruitment push adds: "You are paid for your availability and the time you spend training and at incidents."

Anyone interested is reminded they must be able to get to Ullapool Fire Station quickly after being alerted by a pager and that the role can be physically demanding making physical fitness an important attribute."

Those with an interest can get in touch with anyone at the station or attend a training night, normally on a Tuesday or Wednesday evening.
