A CHRISTMAS jumper day with a difference helped pupils at a primary school get into the festive spirit in a sustainable way.

The Christmas jumper day was just one of many dates in the festive calendar for Dingwall Primary students.

Earlier this month the pupils celebrated with a Learning for Sustainability Christmas Fair, raising £1008 for the school.

Children brought in their own mugs for hot chocolate and a Christmas jumper swap stall was there on the day.

Pupils could then show off their “new” and sustainably sourced Christmas jumpers.

Head teacher Sara MacAskill said: “It has been so wonderful to see the return of ‘normal’ festivities.

“Hearing the children practice their songs has been wonderful and has reminded us that there is no better place to be than a primary school at Christmas.

“Our festive jumper swap was a great success to promote a sustainable way of living as well as supporting families with the added cost of Christmas.”

She added: “On Wednesday afternoon we welcome parents for a festive sing-a -long in the playground which we are all looking forward to and would like to thank the Rotary Club for providing and setting up the stage.”
