THE memory of an Easter Ross woman “who is missed every day” was honoured at the weekend at a moving celebration of her life that has dealt a welcome boost to a wellbeing charity.
Caroline Kennedy was a community midwife with NHS Highland who delivered hundreds of babies during her career, and sadly passed away in May 2014.
In addition to a memory walk linking Alness and Invergordon, there were family events at Invergordon County Hospital with activities such as a bouncy castle, face painting plus home-baking and music.
All the money raised from the event will be divided between a memorial bench for the community midwives, and Highland mental health charity Mikeysline.
One of those involved in its organisation, Karen Mackay, said: "From a suggestion of marking 10 years since we lost Caroline to what actually happened, we are so very proud of the team.
“We've raised £3400 and money is still coming in. It shows how much the community support the two charities and how much they miss Caroline. Huge thanks to everyone who contributed and donated, it has been incredible.”
She added: “Remember it's so important when you feel low, talk to someone, share your troubles and make those troubles smaller. If you can't talk to friends or family then Mikeysline are there. Most things in life are temporary and can change."
Caroline's husband said: “We had a lovely day and it was so nice seeing family, friends and colleagues coming together. Caroline is loved and missed by us every day."
