An Alness memory walk is due to take place this weekend, to commemorate a much-loved Easter Ross midwife that touched the lives of many.

Caroline Kennedy was a community midwife with NHS Highland who delivered hundreds of babies during her career, and sadly passed away in May 2014.

This Saturday (May 18), a memory walk will be taking place in her memory, beginning at 2.30pm at Alness Morrisons car park and travelling four miles to Invergordon’s County Hospital Maternity Unit.

At 4pm, the family events at Invergordon County Hospital will begin, with activities such as: a bouncy castle, face painting, a chance to meet Sonic the Hedgehog, home-baking and music.

Organisers noted that there is no obligation to do the Alness to Invergordon walk in order to attend the family fun event.

All the money raised from the event will be divided between a memorial bench for the community midwives, and Highland mental health charity Mikeysline.

The Emergency Rescue Team will be keeping participants on the walk safe, but organisers kindly ask for dogs to be kept on leads and for all children on the walk to be looked after.

There will also be a mini-bus service for participants in need of a lift back to Alness after the events, courtesy of R and M Grant.
