A WATER main burst in a Ross-shire village has not affected supplies to locals, it is understood, and it's business as usual for a local hotel.

The alarm over a burst on the trunk water main in Conon Bridge was raised this morning and Scottish Water staff are continuing to work on the problem.

It’s understood that the burst is not affecting water supplies to customers while work continues to isolate the damaged section of main to complete a repair while keeping the distribution mains that serve homes and businesses supplied.

The Conon Hotel in the the centre of the village was quick to flag a "business as usual" message despite water coming close to its premises.

It posted: "We are still open as normal today. There is a burst water pipe on the road at the front of the hotel but you can drive over the sandbags to access the back car park."
