A Black Isle community is becoming the latest in Ross-shire to offer a larder freely available to anyone who needs it.

Black Isle Cares is behind the community larder which opened this week.

It is sited at the bottom of the Black Isle Leisure Centre car park.

The charitable group said: "We are delighted to announce the beginning of our latest project, a community larder for use by all.

"We hope a community larder can reduce food waste, provide food and essentials to anyone in need and encourage community sharing - all with the help of willing volunteers."

It will be stocked with an array of non-perishable food, home-grown fruit and vegetables and some household essentials.

A number of pupils from Fortrose Academy have offered to help stock and maintain the larder and BIC says that "other volunteers are most welcome!"

Funding for the project has come from the Black Isle Partnership.
