IF you're in Alness and fancy combining keep fit with bargain-hunting, we've got a great start to your Saturday!

You could start with a 5km timed parkrun at the town's Crawl Park (they've done 201 of then so they know what they're doing!)

and then head to the opening of the new Highland Hospice charity shop in town.

It's scheduled to open its doors for the first time on Saturday at 10am.

Everyone loves a bargain – and if you can get it while supporting one of the Highlands' best-loved charities, happy days!

Try an Easter Ross treasure trail with a difference if you're in the royal burgh of Tain in the next few days.

Tain Parish Church is planning a nursery rhyme and fairytale hunt inviting children to follow clues in participating shops in town.

The fun runs until April 7.

Collect an entry form from Asda, Tesco or Tain Library and join in the Easter Fun. Picture cards with the answers to the clues will be found in the fifteen participating outlets in Tain listed on the entry form.

Take a photo of your completed form and send to Tain Parish Church via Facebook Messenger or to 07708 946 394 by Good Friday, April 7. Winners will be drawn at an Easter event.

You can find out more on the church's Facebook page.

Or you may just fancy a walk in the woods – of which Ross-shire has an abundance.

Ahead of the Easter break, Forestry and Land Scotland is flagging its own three Rs for a fun trip being respectful, responsible and resourceful.

Stuart Chalmers FLS visitor services manager, said: "“Respect other visitors, local residents and our staff, and the countryside; behave responsibly – especially when parking and camping - and follow the Outdoor Access Code; and be resourceful by having a ‘plan B’ ready in case your first choice is busier than you’d expected.

“The outdoors is there for everyone to enjoy and the best way to ensure that your visit is as good as it can be is to help ensure that everyone else’s visit is just as good.”

If you're a fan of the Staggies of the Hoops, Ross County's Sunday clash with Glasgow Celtic may be on your agenda.

Steve Clarke's national side recorded a 2-0 win despite having just 25 per cent of possession against the 2010 and 2014 world champions.

County boss Malky mackay is using the stat as an incentive in a bid to pull of a similarly unlikely feat in Dingwall.
