Alness lad chosen to represent Highlands at Scottish Youth Parliament

Alness Academy pupil, Jamie Dickson, has been voted to represent Caithness, Sutherland and Ross at the Scottish Youth Parliament.

Jamie announced the exciting news on his social media page, saying: "After so long, the time has come! I have been elected as the Caithness, Sutherland and Ross member of Scottish youth parliament.

"The Place youth group - your support throughout this has been unreal and I cannot thank you enough – you support me so much, in ways I can't explain.

He has been receiving swathes of support on social media, with more shares, likes and comment than you can count.

The Place youth group said: "Our very own politician. The Place is very proud of Jamie. We just need to keep him grounded, he isn’t the prime minister yet! We are so proud."

Alness Academy shared their joy at Jamie's achievement, saying: "Congratulation to Jamie who has been voted in as member of the Scottish Youth Parliament. Pupil voice is very important, and to quote Jamie 'I can't wait to work with the young people in the area as soon as I can'."
