AN Alness gymnastics club said goodbye to a “brilliant role model” who has been training with the club since she was four.

With a deep passion for gymnastics, Chloe Woods has been training for 12 years at Fyrish Gymnastics in Alness from the age of four, and has also been coaching at the club for two years.

Chloe said: “As a little girl, I just loved gymnastics – it was my favourite thing to do. Gymnastics was such a great opportunity to travel to different places for competitions, and make lots of friends along the way.

“When I turned 12, I really wanted to be a part of the High Life Highland leadership program, so I started helping out the coaches with classes and over time I did more and more volunteering. In total, I did over 500 hours of volunteering at the club to go towards my golden High Life Highland hoodie.

“I love working with the kids and teaching them gymnastics. When I turned 16 I was able to do the British and Scottish level 1 gymnastics course, which allowed me to become a qualified coach. This lead to being able to take my own classes, and learn new techniques and skills to teach to the gymnasts.

Sharing her plans for the future, Chloe said: “My next adventure is to hopefully get into university to do pharmacy. I’m really looking forward to this, and getting into higher education.”

Fyrish Gymnastics said: “This week we said goodbye to Coach Chloe! Chloe is one of our Level 1 coaches and has been with the club for 14 years in total! She was a gymnast for 12 years from the age of 4 years old and has been coaching with us for the past two years!

“Chloe also did many years of volunteering as a young leader while still training and even completed 500 hours volunteering for us over the years! Chloe will be missed by us all but we wish her the best of luck on her new journey!”

Invergordon Academy congratulated Chloe on all she has achieved at the club, saying: “As the next chapter awaits Chloe, we celebrate her successes and commitment to helping others in the local community! A brilliant role model for us all.”
