Alness anglers cast lines as new season toasted with a Dalmore dram

TRADITIONS dating back decades were honoured by an Easter Ross angling club which was amongst a number marking the start of a new season at the weekend.

Alness Angling Club members gathering at the town's Crawl Park for the event on Saturday morning were blessed with good weather – which they hope will be an auspicious beginning.

Micheal Dzialdowski piped the anglers down to the distillery pool where club chairman Andrew Easton gave the river a dram provided by Dalmore Distillery which uses water from the river.

Scott Ramsay made the first cast. After the formalities refreshments were provided for everyone and the raffle was drawn.

Dave Mateer from Inverness gave a casting demonstration and advice to the fishers which was particularly enjoyed by younger club members.
