EASTER Ross youth group The Place has secured a £3000 boost thanks to bright sparks at Alness Academy.

A team won the YPI (Youth and Philanthropy Initiative)project which invites pupils to research a charity and pitch for a cash award.

Reacting to the team’s success, The Place said: “We cannot put into words how proud we are of Sophie Hynd, Iona Murphy, Luci Haig, Abbey Cochrane, Josh Oade and Emily Jones for this massive achievement.

“The young people have chosen that the money be used towards benches for The Field, specifically for Craig’s Corner, our fire pit corner which will be in memory of Craig Melville and the many young people we have lost over the years.”
