AN Easter Ross youth group which found a solution to the coronavirus lockdown blues is now celebrating progress on a vision for the future.

The Place in Alness continued to engage with young people throughout the lockdown and adapted to the restrictions by making use of a local field for outdoor activities as restrictions were eased.

With the use of stretch tents and the help of volunteers, activities and events have been safely staged and young people are now getting involved in preparing what is now known as The Field for further developments, following Highland Council approval.

The Field belongs to Highland Council and The Place have signed a long lease and pay a monthly rental to use the space.

A spokesperson said: "This is a massive step for all of us here at The Place and will allow huge progress for The Field in the coming months. A massive thank you to those who have helped and supported us to get to where we are today. The Field was just a vision, but now it’s the future of youth work in Alness."
