PICTURE: Black Isle summer reading challenge proves a real page-turner at Fortrose Library

SIXTY-ONE children took on a Black Isle summer reading challenge ploughing their way through 366 titles in total.

And at Fortrose Library, 10 pre-school children completed the Mini Challenge, clocking up 60 sticker-earning visits to the library between them.

The Ready, Set, Read! theme was eagerly embraced with Fortrose School and Community Library Sya Bruce adding: "We are very proud of all the children who took part and told us about the books that they had read – they are an important part of our library family.

"Coming up we have Harry Potter Book Night on October 12 as well as our intergenerational programme, run in partnership with Black Isle Cares, HLH Youth Development and Fortrose Academy which consists of, among other things, our weekly games afternoon and the very useful Getting To Know Your Techno sessions for those getting to grips with new devices.

"We also have a great programme of You Time adult craft classes on the horizon and much, much more!"
