PICTURES: 108 people enjoy Big Lunch at National Hotel in Dingwall to mark coronation of Charles III

Dingwall Community Council held a successful Coronation Big Lunch event in the Seaforth Room of the National Hotel to mark the historic occasion.

It was funded by the National Lottery Communities Fund.

The event was organised to bring the over 60s together to enjoy a buffet in celebration of the Coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla.

108 people attended the event, including a party from Fairburn House with some additional passers by being accommodated. They happily joined in the happy atmosphere, taking part in the lunch of soup, sandwiches and cakes supplied by the National Hotel staff.

After lunch, it was 'eyes down' for a bingo session, with a well known local bingo-caller, Councillor Sean Kennedy.

After the bingo, a raffle was held with all prizes following the local theme, in the way of vouchers for the local shops in the town.

The event was concluded by having the Inver-Ross Accordion and Fiddle band, playing a set of melodies with the crowd joining in to sing along.

Michelle Mackay, Tesco community champion, helped out with the bingo, bunting and flags.

Shona, Ken and Duncan from Shopmobility helped with transport to and from the event.

Jack Shepherd, who helped with organisation, thanked everyone who chipped in,

He said: "As always, when something like this is organised, there is always a bit of a panic. Did we do this or that, are there enough people coming along and the hope that everyone has a great time."
