Ross County have added Republic of Ireland under-21 international Simon Power to their squad ahead of the new season.

The 21-year-old pacey winger has signed on loan from English Premiership newcomers Norwich City, and has linked up with the Staggies at their Dutch training camp.

Simon Power became Ross County's fifth signing of the summer today.
Simon Power became Ross County's fifth signing of the summer today.

Power is highly rated by the Canaries, signing a new contract until the summer of 2021 back in January and being linked with moves to Ajax and Borussia Dortmund.

The Irishman joined Norwich in January 2018, but is yet to make an appearance for Daniel Farke's side and spent time out on loan at Dutch Eerste Division side FC Dordrecht in the second half of last season.

Power could be in line to make his first appearance in a County shirt in the Netherlands in tomorrow's friendly match against Groningen or Sunday's tie with Valenciennes.

On the signing, club co-manager Stuart Kettlewell said “We are delighted to get Simon in. He is a young player that we see as having great potential and can play a great part in what we are trying to achieve at the club.

"Coming from Norwich City, he will have an excellent pedigree and is a player I am sure the fans will take too instantly.

"We also want to take the opportunity to thank Norwich City for allowing Simon to come here. Its really encouraging that clubs such as Norwich see value in sending young players up to us.

"With the importance of this season for us all, to be able to get good players like Simon in the door just helps us add a bit more strength to what we feel is becoming a really strong squad here at Ross County.”
