Invergordon striker Shaun Kerr admits beating Golspie Sutherland will make them heavy favourites to win North Caledonian League Division One.

Victory in the top of the table clash tomorrow would see Invergordon move seven points clear of Golspie, with only four games remaining.

Kerr (35) says in a shortened campaign, where Invergordon have only failed to win once this season, things will look good for his team if they can add another three points.

“The other teams have been slipping up this season, whereas we have drawn one match and won the rest,” he said.

“A win will give us a good advantage anyway.”

Kerr scored in the 4–0 win at Golspie earlier this season as Invergordon have won four out of five matches so far.

Golspie have seen a change in personnel with former Wick Academy midfielder Sam Mackay taking over the reins from previous manager Andrew Banks, who stood down after a 3–1 defeat at home to Thurso.

Kerr says both teams will have a different look.

But he hopes that the winner of the match will be the same as last time.

“In the previous match, we had a bit of a boost getting Steven Mackay and Craig Campbell on loan from Brora Rangers,” he said.

“Steven in particular played a massive part in that game.

“Since then, Golspie have changed their manager and they got a great win last week against St Duthus.

“They have probably seen the last few weeks as a fresh start.

“They will be confident they can get a result and our previous 4-0 win will not factor in too much for Saturday.”

Kerr is second in the North Caledonian League Division One scoring charts this season, scoring four goals in all competitions.

He is pleased with the contribution that he has made so far and is looking to add a few more goals to his tally.

“It’s going good and every goal I score is a bonus with my age!” he joked.

“I just want to keep playing.

“We have made a great start and during lockdown everyone was out doing 5k and 10k runs.

“We have all come into this season really fit and it has been a massive help for us.

“We’re only a small squad, but we are close knit and everyone gets on well together.

“It has been a good season so far and we will look to ensure it continues.”
