Evanton boxer Adian Williamson’s reputation as one of the top young fighters in the country continues to grow as he became a national champion for the second time.

The Inverness City Boxing Club athlete won gold in the 54kg division at the Scottish Intermediate Championships in Motherwell.

He added the title to the Scottish Novice Championship he won in 2018.

The Alness Academy pupil wasted no time in securing the title as he beat Ayr boxer Louis Gow in the final by knockout in the second round.

Williamson (15) said he was confident he always had the ability to overpower his opponent, saying: “It is the second time that I have won at the national championships.

"I was Scottish novice champion last year but winning the intermediate championship means more to me."
