JORDAN White believes it is crucial Ross County return from their sunshine winter break refreshed - but also razor sharp.

Malky Mackay will take his Staggies’ squad to Spain’s renowned Pinatar training complex in Murcia on the southern coast at the end of this month.

It will be no holiday – Mackay is intent on ensuring County’s players remain fit and ready to build on Premiership progress.

Taking 10 points from the last seven games has revitalised County’s league campaign, with that sequence also featuring decent performances in defeats to Kilmarnock, Hearts and Celtic.

Striker White is eager to ensure the feelgood factor remains for their post-World Cup return to action at home to St Johnstone on December 17

“It is good that the chairman has laid that on for us. The players appreciate that and we’ll make the most of it,” the 30-year-old said.

“I feel like we’ve been getting fitter and stronger as the games go on and there has been a wee bit more consistency in all of our performances.

“Sometimes when you have a mid-season break you can be sluggish when you come back, so we want to avoid that and return firing.

“The aim is to come back and be even better than we’ve been. We know how good the second half of last season was. Can we make it even better?”

County showed high levels of organisation and work-rate under intense scrutiny in the 2-1 defeat at Celtic Park. Add in the creativity and attacking menace they have shown against lesser opposition recently and there is plenty to be encouraged about.

“We’ve got to take positives from Celtic Park. We came into the match with six points from six and it is now six from nine in the last week before the World Cup break,” White said. “We took Celtic almost all the way and it probably shows how far we’ve come recently.

“Probably a few weeks ago we weren’t getting the performances we wanted, but since the Kilmarnock game – even though we got beat – we were really good. It was the same against Hearts.

“It is a sore one to take, losing 2-1 to the defending champions and performing so well, but we have to build on it. We’ll have a good break and come back firing.”

White, rarely prolific in front of goal, is greatly-valued by the management as a vital cog in how County operate.

“I feel good about myself in terms of how I’m performing at the moment. I’ll take all the positives, have a good rest and come back even better.”
