Ross County's Ferguson targets three points to increase gap to Premiership strugglers St Mirren

Ross County co-manager Steven Ferguson believes three points tomorrow could be a catalyst for a turnaround in fortune for the Dingwall club.

The Staggies have gone seven matches without a win in the Premiership, though still sit sixth in the league table thanks to strong form at the start of the campaign.

They have also had a tough run of games in recent months, facing all of last season’s top five teams.

But tomorrow afternoon County head to Paisley to take on a St Mirren side propping up the rest of the table, and Ferguson sees it as a real opportunity to put more distance between the two clubs.

“One win can change your whole outlook,” he said.

“Three points is massive and it can really propel you up the league and give you distance between other clubs.

“It’s very much a cut-throat environment in that bottom six, and we want to make sure we stay where we are and stay out of that fight."
