Tom Grivosti is a Liverpool lad, released by Bolton Wanderers, who is making a fresh start almost 400 miles away in the Scottish Highlands.

The last thing the young defender expected was to be squaring up to one of his old Scouse pals in a national cup final in Inverness.

Grivosti, who has grasped valuable first team opportunities during the Irn-Bru Cup run, will be chasing his first senior medal against Connah’s Quay Nomads.

In the Welsh part-timers’ line-up will be 23-year-old Jonny Spittle, one of his good friends.

It will be an unlikely reunion for Grivosti and Spittle who, not so long ago, were playing for Bolton and Blackburn Rovers respectively.

“I know little bits about Connah’s Quay because they are situated not that far away from where I’m from in Liverpool,” Grivosti stressed.
