Ferguson was happy to see that no ‘big-club bias’ came into play punishing the pair for being at Ross County, and expects both men to return to Dingwall better for the experiences.

“It’s no more than these guys deserve,” Ferguson insisted.

“The trend is that the city clubs, and bigger clubs than ours, is where the player pool comes from. The fact both of these guys are on loan to us, and are being recognised for what they are doing is really positive.

“Ewan and Simon are both great young players. They are really focused and enthusiastic about trying to pave a career in the game.

“Playing at that level will do them no harm whatsoever, they are good games to be involved in. We hope they come back invigorated for what we have coming towards us.”
