Ross County striker Jordan White is conscious of the clock ticking on their relegation fight, warning time is running out to fix problems.

The Staggies lost some control over their fate on Wednesday night, falling back down into the relegation play-off place.

Kyle Lafferty scored a hat trick at Rugby Park to help Kilmarnock to a 3–0 win over Dundee United, while County lost 3–1 on home turf to St Mirren.

White himself had given the Dingwall outfit a first half lead that they took into the break, but goals from Lee Erwin, Ilay Durmus and Jamie McGrath saw the points head to Paisley.

Now, three games remain for County to improve and stay in the top flight.

“It’s the story of our season really,” he admitted.

“Obviously it’s disappointing, we get the lead and I felt we were pretty comfortable at that point.

“I don’t know how it looked off the pitch, but even when we lost the goal I still felt we were on top.

“The goals we are losing are really poor.

“I’m not just putting that on the defence – we defend as a team in the same way we go forward and score as a team.

“We’re in it together, but it’s really frustrating and we need to do more.

“We’ve got three games to put it right, time will run out eventually if we don’t.”

St Mirren’s opener was a simple cross into Erwin, who had lost his marker, the second stemmed from a counter attack and the third came from the penalty spot.

They all exploited persistent problems in County’s defending, so White reiterated the need for unity to find a solution.

“It all starts with the first ball,” White reasoned.

“You can look at the ball going into the box, but can we stop the ball from getting there? Can we win our headers? Can we stop it earlier than that? It’s not down to any individual, we’ve got to take responsibility as a team.

“At the moment we are having to score three goals to win a game. That’s not good enough.”
