The Inch Trail date saw 23 of the club’s athletes compete across the age groups from under-11s to seniors, with three race winners in their midst.

Ross County were most successful at under-15s level, where Caitlyn Heggie and Andrew Baird won the girls’ and boys’ races respectively, while Callum Crawford was victorious in the under-11 boys’ race too.

In the youngest age bracket, Sophie MacGruer finished fourth and Bethan Schiller finished seventh in the girls’ race.

Callum Crawford was run extremely close in his bid to take the boys’ win, finishing only a second ahead of Aaron Tresidder, while elsewhere in the field Finlay Crawford finished eighth.

The under-13s races very nearly saw more success for Ross County, who had runners up in both the boys’ and girls’ races.

In the former, Calum Duffy finished second in what was a strong showing overall for the club, as Rowin Schiller was third, Jamie MacGruer fifth and Sam MacLean eighth.

On the girls’ side it was Flora Sutherland who came close to victory, backed up by Lucy Fraser in sixth, Anna Fraser in 10th and Daisy Hendry in 14th.

Heggie was the club’s only entrant in the under-15 girls, but there was another strong showing among the boys – with Baird’s win followed by Noah Carson in third, Ali Young in fourth, Struan Ellen in eighth and George Ross in ninth.

In the women’s races, Emil Bell was runner up in the under-17s where Morag Lynch finished fourth, and Karen Crawford was the club’s top performer at senior level in 18th, ahead of Melanie Carson and Jo Ellen.

The results meant Ross County led the team standings in the under-13 boys, under-15 boys and under-17 women’s races.
