Ross County have gone 10 Premiership matches without a win as they fell to defeat against Dundee at Kilmac Stadium.

Scott Tiffoney scored both goals, one in each half, to give the hosts victory and consign the Staggies to their fourth consecutive league defeat.

The Staggies have failed to win in the Premiership since December 5 when they defeat Motherwell 3-0 in Dingwall.

They have failed to win their last 11 matches in all competitions, which included their 3-0 Scottish Cup defeat to Partick Thistle.

Dundee went close in the opening minutes to taking the lead when goalkeeper George Wickens had to be at full stretch to divert a deflected Lyall Cameron drive around the right post.

Ross County responded well and Eamonn Brophy was causing panic down the right wing and came close to the opener.

He rampaged into the box and fired a powerful drive which goalkeeper Trevor Carson blocked well.

Dundee got back into the game and Cameron was once again proving to be the danger man as his shot had to be diverted by an excellent tackle from Michee Efete to prevent going towards the net.

The hosts were proving to be a danger in the box and Dundee went close again midway through the first half.

Jordan McGhee beat the Ross County defence in the box to nod towards the net, but Wickens did well to tip over the bar.

But the Staggies gave as good as they got in the first half, with Simon Murray going close when his header from close range was well saved by Carson.

However, Dundee took the lead just before half time when Dara Costelloe sent a ball straight through the middle and he found Tiffoney.

He charged through on goal and kept his composure to fire a low drive past George Wickens.

Dundee looked to build on their lead early in the second half when Luke McCowan was allowed to unleash a thunderous drive from 25 yards out which went inches over the bar.

The Staggies improved as the second half went on and came close after initial play from Yan Dhanda set up Eamonn Brophy whose shot from 12-yards went inches wide of the right post.

But Dundee doubled their advantage as Tiffoney pounced on a deflected cross from Amadou Bakayoko before firing a low drive into the bottom left corner from 12-yards out

Ross County rarely threatened to claw back the two-goal deficit as Dundee comfortably saw out the game.
