A one-sided affair at Grant Park saw Tain Thistle put five goals past Brora Wanderers on Saturday in the latest round of North West Sutherland amateur league fixtures.

The Tain side opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a goal for debutant striker Bradi Hulme who chipped Jake Kay in the Wanderers' goal after being played through on goal by Jamie Skinner.

It was 2–0 five minutes later when Finn As-Chainey rose above the Brora defence to head home an Adrian Voigt corner.

With Thistle running riot, Martyn Farquhar netted the goal of the game on 12 minutes with a volley hit from the edge of the box after Brora failed to clear from a corner kick.

Brora's first half misery was compounded by a fourth goal scored by Jamie Skinner on 34 minutes, also from the edge of the box.

A tepid second half saw only one more goal added to the tally, as Voigt opened his own account for the club. The German midfielder showed great poise as he hit a left foot strike high into the net to make it 5–0 shortly after the hour mark.

The win puts Thistle into pole position in League 2, three points clear of nearest rivals Inver, who sit in second place.

In the other League 2 match of the weekend, a closely fought contest at Invergordon went the way of the home side as Social Club beat Inver 2–1.

The home team took the lead just after five minutes thanks to a penalty award which Ryan Mcfee converted.

But it was 1–1 late in the half thanks to a good goal from veteran midfielder Dave Macgruer.

Macgruer then had a reverse in fortunes at the other end to restore Social Club's lead, netting an own goal early in the second half.

A foul on striker Johnie Beattie resulted in a penalty award for Inver late on, but Jordan Hailes failed to beat Social Club goalkeeper Stefan Pietrzic.

In League 1, Lochbroom lost by the odd goal in a five-goal contest at Helmsdale.

The west-coast side took the lead through Shaun Marshall after five minutes, but were pegged back just before the interval by a Billy Cairns strike.

Helmsdale then roared into a 3–1 lead in the second half with goals from Alfie Mackay and Billy Cairns.

A goal from Seamus Charity ten minutes before the end gave Lochbroom some late hope of notching a point, but resolute defending from the home side saw the game end 3–2.

Elsewhere in League 1, Golspie Stafford beat visitors Lochinver 5-1.
