Tain golfer claims victory at North Winter Alliance fixture in Wick

BILLY Ferries came out on top when he claimed victory in the latest round of the North Golf Winter Alliance in Wick.

The Tain golfer was tied after 18 holes with Brent Munro from Reay with a score of 75.

But he claimed victory thanks to having a better inward half.

Bryan Ronald from Invergordon put in a good performance to finish with a 76 as he finished in third place.

Golfers from Caithness dominated the lower categories of the competition in Wick.

John Hunter from Wick claimed victory in the category one section.

He finished on top with a net 72 to claim the top £30 prize.

Owen Cormack from Wick finished in second place with a net 73 with Malcolm Thomson from Lybster claiming third place when he finished with a net score of 76.

In the Category Two section, Pete McCartney from Lybster finished on top with a net score of 74.

Ally Melville from Tain Golf Club was second with 77. Roy Page from Lybster finished in third place with 80. Moira McBeath from Thurso won the ladies title with a net score of 79. Carol Paterson from Reay was second thanks to better inward half on 80 with Eileen Manson of Thurso third.
