Inverness Harriers success at Scottish Trail Championships in Speyside

INVERNESS Harriers athletes experienced success at the Scottish Trail Championships which took place in Speyside last weekend.

Donnie MacDonald claimed victory in the men’s over 40 category. Scott Phimister of Moray Road Runners finished behind him in second place with David Scott of Metro Aberdeen claiming third place.

There was also success for Inverness Harriers athlete Steven Worsley who claimed victory in the men’s over 60 category.

Simon MacDonald of Moray Road Runners finished in second place with Greig Cruickshank of JogScotland taking third place.

In the senior men’s race, Matt Knowles from Edinburgh University led from the gun and was a clear winner from James Wilson of Moray Road Runners.

In the senior women’s race Claire Bruce of Metro Aberdeen claimed the title with Monica Padilla of Highland Hill Runners in second place with Isla MacKay of Lochaber Athletics Club in third.

In the men’s over 50 category, Nicholas Gemmel of Garscube Harriers claimed victory with Walter Henderson of Cumbernauld AAC in second place and Iain Macleod of Corstorphine AC in third place.

James Treasurer of Lochaber AC was on top in the men’s over 70 category with Phill Thompson of Moray Road Runners in second place.

In the women’s over 40 category Murial Macleod of Stornoway RAC came out on top with Iona Robertson of Highland Hill Runners with Emma Vacaro of Moray Road Runners.

In the women’s over 50 category, Allie Chong of Giffnock came out on top with Gillian Sangster of Dundee in second place and Susan Brown claiming third place.

Jackie Nicol of Forres won the women’s over 60 title with Linden Nicholson of Lasswade winning the over 70 title.
