The striker says his next aim is to win a trophy with the Strathpeffer club after he picked up the Camanachd Association player of the year award for the 2019 season.

The 24-year-old received the accolade at the end of season ceremony last weekend after scoring 38 goals in all competitions.

Caberfeidh reached the semi finals of the Camanachd Cup for the first time since 1963 when they lost an epic encounter 7–5 against Newtonmore after extra time.

Morrison says he plans to stay at Caberfeidh and is confident the club are capable of winning major trophies.

“Hopefully I would like to win something,” he said.

“You always play to win trophies.

“We still have a young team but if we stick together we will be there or thereabouts.”

Morrison also scored in 21 consecutive games on his way to becoming top scorer this season.

He said it was an accomplishment that he would never have thought possible at the start of 2019.

The striker was forced to deputise in defence while his brother Blair was out injured.

“Blair dislocated his shoulder so I was stuck in defence for a while.

“So given that, I didn’t expect to have scored so many goals.

“I never thought that I would have had a chance of scoring in 21 consecutive games.”

Morrison said it was a huge honour for him to be named player of the year and said it was an even bigger achievement given he played for a team that finished seventh in the table.

“Kingussie won the league and Newtonmore won cup competitions so it was nice that players from the smaller clubs to get recognised as well.

“This has been the best season of my shinty career so far.

“I doubt that I will win it again.”

Caberfeidh are currently second top scorers in the Premiership with 49 goals and Morrison paid tribute to his strike partner and cousin Kevin Bartlett.

He said: “If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have scored half the goals that I did this year.”
