Ross Sutherland face a rare quickfire return to Aberdeenshire tomorrow in Caledonia North Two action.
It has only been two weeks since the Stags were last there, when they lost heavily in the opening round of the Caledonia Bowl.
There was a lot to learn from that performance, but even though the result did not go Ross Sutherland’s way against Highland 2nds last time out head coach John Mann could see an improvement.
So Mann hopes that some of the younger members of his squad especially will take confidence from that and play better this time around.
“Defence was the issue against Aberdeenshire last time, but I think we probably put a lot of those wrongs right last weekend,” he said.
“Four of the five tries Highland scored were just good tries. You kind of just had to say ‘well done Highland, you deserve those’.
“But a lot of the tries against Shire were our mistakes, not their good play."
