Ross Sutherland travel to Orkney for first pre-season friendly

A trip to Orkney this weekend will renew rivalries between Ross Sutherland Rugby Club and their northern isles opponents in Kirkwall.

A pre-season friendly has been arranged between the Caledonia One side and their mainland counterparts, who play in Caledonia North Two.

“It’s been about eight years since we played them and we are looking forward to the trip,” said Ross Sutherland’s head coach John Mnan.

“It will be as much a team-bonding thing as anything. It’s a good work out before the season gets under way in earnest.”

After winning the National Bowl in 2017-18 the Invergordon club lost some of their more experienced players who decided to hang up their boots.

So last season was a year of consolidation and rebuilding with a young squad.
