Coll Donaldson is confident that the experience in the Ross County squad will mean they do not buckle under the pressure of tomorrow’s match against Hamilton.

If results go their way, the Staggies could secure Premiership safety for another season in Dingwall.

Defeat to the Accies, though, will leave County needing a result in their final league match away at Motherwell this weekend.

Donaldson knows it is imperative that they come out on top tomorrow, saying they will need to use the stakes as motivation to come out on top.

“The manager speaks about using things to motivate you, anything you can draw on to give you that extra 10 per cent in a game,” Donaldson said.

“We need to win, there’s no two ways about it. You can dress it up any way you want, but it’s a must-win.

“It will be tough, we’re under no illusions, Hamilton came up here earlier in the season and won, but we’ve gone down and beaten them twice too.

“There’s a lot of experience in our squad, so I think the boys will be alright in terms of dealing with the pressure and the noise from outside. We’re confident we can win the game, but it will be a tough, tough game.”

Hamilton’s last visit to Dingwall saw the Accies win 2–0 – a result which marked the end of Stuart Kettlewell’s tenure at the Global Energy Stadium.

It also seems appropriate, then, that such a crucial juncture of the campaign will see the two teams face off again.

“I think that definitely was the low point of the season,” Donaldson admitted.

“I think our confidence was totally shot, we were trying different formations and personnel and nothing seemed to really stick.

“There’s more of an identity to us now, we have grasped how the manager wants us to play.

“Football is all about confidence, and there’s definitely more of that around the place than there was back then.”
