Steven Ferguson says Ross County have to try and target Kilmarnock’s Betfred Cup exploits to get a win in the Premiership tomorrow.
Killie went all the way to penalties two nights ago, eventually missing out on a semi final berth to Hibernian.
Mid-week games can take the energy out of teams at the best of times, but going through extra time should give the advantage to County, who have had to face no such scheduling issues.
So co-manager Ferguson says his players need to take advantage of some potentially tired legs in the opposition at Rugby Park tomorrow.
“There’s no point dressing it up, if you play 120 minutes on a Wednesday and we don’t, you would think that we would be in better condition for the game on Saturday than the Kilmarnock boys,” he said.
“We’re the same as anyone, we would look at that and ask if that’s something we can take advantage of.
“Kilmarnock will say that we just played 120 minutes and in the last two weeks Ross County have scored goals late in the game.
“We feel that we finish games strongly, we feel that we will always get one more chance. It’s a bit of a catch-line that we keep saying at the moment, but thankfully over the last couple of games we have got that last chance and taken it.
“We’ve all played three games in a week, it’s not that you can’t do it, but it’s a thing that we can look at and say those guys did play 120 minutes on Wednesday, how fresh can we be over them? We need to try and take advantage of that.”
