Partick Thistle 1 Ross County 1

Any suggestions of a nervy match between two struggling sides were quickly blown out of the water, as it looked like it was going to be end to end stuff in the early going.

But it was Thistle who would earn the breakthrough. Harry Souttar misjudged a ball over the top, allowing Kris Doolan to get it under control in bags of space.

He picked out his man, and his cross was inch perfect for the incoming Chris Erskine who was left with a simple finish from close range to put Partick one goal ahead.

It just wasn’t happening for County, who were occasionally getting forward but couldn’t find that clinical ball.

But a Michael Gardyne free kick wide on the right flank just before half time was only half-cleared, and Liam Fontaine hooked it back over the rushing defenders from the edge of the box and Billy Mckay, who was just onside, was on hand to apply the finish to level the scores.

County would grow into the second half, looking to push for the winner that would leapfrog Partick in the table.

But right at the end, it was Partick pushing with a multitude of corners, one of which came from a deflection that Partick were adamant should have been a penalty for handball.

It wasn’t given by Kevin Clancy though, and when the final whistle went the scores were still locked at 1-1.
