It was a master-class in finishing from the Tain Saints with Finn As-Chainey helping himself to five of his side’s goals in the rout.

It was one-way traffic in this one-sided encounter as Saints rattled in five goal inside the first 20 minutes.

Skipper Cammy Mackintosh got the scoring underway with a vicious drive from the outside the area.

As-Chainey scored twice in as many minutes before a Stefan McRitchie effort was adjudged to have crossed the goal-line.

There was no let up for the beleaguered Bonar defence as Liam Rostock then Jon Campbell added a couple more before the break.

Goals from Adam Allan and Finlay MacLeod stretched the lead early in the second half.

As-Chainey completed his hat trick on the hour mark from the penalty spot.

It was double figures when Mackintosh scored again shortly afterwards and As-Chainey rounded off a productive days’ work with two more goals before the end.

It was the perfect response from his players after last week’s cup final defeat according to Saints boss Stuart Ross.

He said: “It was good to get back to league action and pick up the three points.

“It keeps us in the mix at the top end of the table.”

Looking ahead to Saturday’s derby match against Invergordon in the group stages of the Football Times Cup, he said that he was looking forward to the Ross-shire derby.

“We are all looking forward to playing Invergordon on Saturday.

“The matches between the teams are rarely uneventful - it should be a cracking tie.”

Elsewhere, Golspie Sutherland defeated Thurso 5-2 at King George V Park, with all the goals coming in the first half.

Inverness Athletic won for the first time on the road with a 6-0 victory against Bunillidh Thistle at Couper Park.

Orkney are now the only undefeated side in the league after they came from behind to beat Halkirk United 3-1 at Morrison Park.
