St Duthus beat Halkirk United with Alness defeating Invergordon on opening weekend of North Caledonian League season

St Duthus kicked off their North Caledonian League campaign with an impressive 4–2 win over Halkirk United at Grant Park.

Ben Bruce and Finn As Chainey put St Duthus 2–0 up in the first half.

But Halkirk United pulled level midway through the second half with Sam Barclay and Bryan Reid scoring two goals in the space of three minutes.

But Jake Lockett came to the rescue for St Duthus as he scored twice to give the Tain outfit victory.

Defending champions Invergordon got their campaign off to a losing start with a 2–1 defeat at Alness United.

Ryan McFee scored twice for Alness with Kyle Macdonald pulling one back for Invergordon.

Inverness Athletic kicked off their North Caledonian League campaign with victory after a 2–1 win over new boys Clachnacuddin A at Ferry Croft Park.

Andreas Broomfield gave Athletic the lead after 17 minutes with Harry Shewan doubling their advantage a minute after the interval.

Thomas Lewis pulled one back for Clachnacuddin A four minutes from time but could not find an equaliser.

Loch Ness started their league campaign with a 0–0 draw against Orkney at Fortrose.

Orkney were reduced to 10 men when James Pickles was sent off for putting his hands on the referee after a foul was given against his team.

Nairn County A got their league campaign off to a losing start when they suffered a 4–2 defeat to Thurso at Riverside Park.

Kyle MacDonald put Nairn County ahead in six minutes.

But Thurso stormed ahead going 3–1 ahead after 17 minutes.

Grant Aitkenhead, Daniel Coghill and Dylan Alexander all found the net for the Caithness outfit.

Lewis Sheppard scored on the stroke of half time to put them 4–1 up at the break.

Kieran Duffty pulled one back eight minutes from time but Thurso held on for all three points.

Fort William got their campaign off to a losing start with a 2–0 defeat at home to Golspie Sutherland. Sean Matheson and Robbie Murray scored the goals.
