Invergordon Social Club emerged as the pace-setters in League 2 of the North West Sutherland amateur ranks this past weekend with a 14–1 win against Melvich.

Social Club overpowered their north Sutherland visitors for the full ninety minutes with hat-tricks for both Euan Henderson and Bruce Urquhart, the latter taking his tally to seven in his last two games.

Ryan Mcfee was also amongst the goals, grabbing a brace, while Callum Murray, Drew Sutherland and Paul Macdonald each scored one.

As if the Invergordon side needed any help, Melvich's Finlay Mackay put one past his own keeper to compound a miserable afternoon for his side.

Lee Gordon netted Melvich's only reply to deny Social Club goalkeeper Stefan Pietrzyk a clean sheet.

At Osprey Park, Paul Connolly's Inver bounced back from defeat against Social Club a fortnight ago to beat Brora Wanderers by a goal to nil.

An Alex Mackenzie strike was all the separated the sides after ninety minutes as the Easter Ross side condemned Wanderers to their third defeat in a row.

The weekend's results mean that Social Club advance into first place at the half-way point in the second tier with nine points on the board – two points clear of nearest rivals Tain Thistle and Inver. It remains tight below third place with Brora and Melvich both on three points.

It was honours even at Culag Park in League 1 as Lochbroom had to settle for a point away to west coast rivals Lochinver.

The deadlock was broken by the Ullapool side when Sam Lucas finished from a tight angle after dribbling past the Lochinver goalkeeper.

The hosts equalised later in the half, however, when Josh Sands powered a header past William Godding.

Lochbroom restored their advantage in the second half though – and all eyes were on teenage striker Shaun Marshall as he produced a moment of magic to dribble the ball from his own eighteen yard box and fire his side into the lead.

But the Wester Ross men had to settle for a point when Christopher Campbell turned a goalmouth scramble into the net to make it 2–2.

In the other League 1 game, Golspie Stafford accounted for Lairg Rovers by five goals to nil.

Golspie sit top of the League 1 table with maximum points (nine), closely followed by Helmsdale United on seven points. Lochbroom sit three behind, and Lochinver and Lairg already appear cut adrift on a point apiece.
