A THRILLING penalty shoot-out decided the fate of the Pattison Cup as Ross-shire Club and Alness Athletic took the final right down to the wire.

And it was Ross-shire Club goalkeeper Steven Hyslop who emerged the hero of the hour, saving one penalty and then scoring the decisive one to seal the deal at Inver.

In glorious conditions, Russell MacIntyre had put Ross ahead on 59 minutes. Ross held the lead until a Cameron Bell own goal on 73 evened things up.

Still deadlocked after extra-time, it was then down to a shoot-out in the Mitchell Industrial Services-sponsored final.

Ross kept their nerve to get their hands on the trophy, man of the match Hyslop proving the difference between the two.

It was sweet revenge for the Dingwall club which had last month suffered a 3-1 defeat in the Ross-shire Welfare Football Association league to their Easter Ross rivals.

John MacLeod will have a full report from the match in this week’s Ross-shire Journal. You can see more photographs, taken by Niall Harkiss, here.
