Rachel McLauchlan has been named in the Scotland squad for their upcoming Euro 2022 qualifiers against Cyprus and Portugal.

Both matches will be played in Cyprus due to Covid-19 protocols, as interim manager Stuart McLaren takes charge for the first time.

He replaced Shelley Kerr on a temporary basis last month after the last round of games saw Scotland miss out on a chance of qualifying, with Finland and Portugal guaranteed the top two spots in Group E.

McLauchlan was not involved in the international set-up in November, but the 23-year-old is now looking to add to her seven caps.

The former Inverness City winger was part of the Euro 2017 squad under former coach Anna Signeul, but has struggled to work her way into the fold in recent years since converting to full back.

McLauchlan swapped Glasgow City for Rangers at the end of last year, moving into full time football, and that seems to have paid off as she has been joined by five of her Rangers teammates – more than half of the Scotland-based members of McLaren’s squad.

Scotland will play Cyprus on Friday, February 19, and Portugal on Tuesday, February 23.
