ST Duthus have successfully appealed the red card given to Will Ross in their North Caledonian Cup quarter final clash against Loch Ness.

Saints submitted a fast-track appeal to the Scottish FA judicial panel after the defender was sent off in the 76th minute against Loch Ness during the 2-1 quarter final defeat at Grant Park in Tain on Saturday.

Video footage of the incident was submitted to the panel for review on Wednesday

After viewing the footage and a report of the sending off, a tribunal determined that the original sanction of a red card should be rescinded with immediate effect, and that the two match suspension issued to Ross should be removed from his record.

The club said they are pleased that their appeal against a red card and suspension issued to Ross has been upheld.

They were pleased that video evidence was used in the appeal decision making process which led to the red card being dismissed.

St Duthus released a statement which said: “We are very grateful to the Scottish FA for their cooperation and the way in which our appeal was handled. We are delighted that Will will able to feature this weekend.

“Having video footage of the incident has helped our case, certainly. We mostly capture games for the benefit of sharing goals on social media and to share highlights - but in this instance, it has been very useful in being able to make an appeal.”

Ross will now be available for St Duthus’ match with Clachnacuddin A tomorrow.

Clachnacuddin A played in the only North Caledonian League match to take place on Saturday.

They suffered a 7-0 hammering to Orkney in Inverness.

St Duthus remain 10 points behind Loch Ness in second place in the table, but have two games in hand.
