National Bowl Final

Ross Sutherland 12 Wigtownshire 3

ROSS Sutherland achieved the greatest result in their history as they claimed the National Bowl with victory over Wigtownshire in the final at Murrayfield.

The Stags went behind to a penalty in the 31st minute but took the lead before half time when John Gordon scored a try to put the Stags 5-3 up at the break.

The Invergordon side extended their lead in the second half with Andy Mackay scoring a try with man of the match John Mann converting.

The Stags then put an effective defensive display to claim the bowl and spark euphoric scenes from the 200 strong support from Ross-shire and Sutherland.
