THERE was bitter disappointment for Ross Sutherland on Saturday as the home team succumbed 40-12 to Banff in Invergordon despite high hopes of a positive result.

Banff took an early lead which they quickly doubled to make the score 14-0. Ross struck back when young winger Andrew Cook scored in the corner to give the home side hope of a comeback. This was quickly snuffed out by a further Banff try before half-time, despite the home team dominating territory.

After the break Ross, who had dominated in the scrum, and had got to grips with the line-out ball, let in three Banff tries without reply. This lead was proved unassailable to the men from Invergordon who could only score a consolation try through Mike Gordon. It was converted by winger Andrew Cook.

Ross Sutherland are on the road this week and travel to Aberdeen University for a 3pm kick-off in search of their first win of the season.
